Roosevelt was his given middle name, but he omitted that in favor of his confirmation name, Thomas, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army.  Mary, his daughter, did not know his given name for many years; it is absent from her birth certificate but is included on her sisters’ German birth records.  Theodore was a member of the Army Specials forces which he was very proud.  In this group picture Theodore is standing to the far left.  He belonged to the  Special Forces Association - Chapter XXXII (32).
